An SDS's product may be known by multiple names at your company: its common name, other trade names, a former product name, in-house vernacular, and so on. Synonyms are alternate SDS common names. When one or more synonyms are added to an SDS, users can search for and find this SDS using any of these various names.
Synonyms function in the following search tools. To search for an SDS by its synonym, enter the synonym in the search field indicated:
● SDS Search Center: Common Name field
● Universal Product Search: Product Name/Description field
The search tool finds products with common names and/or synonyms matching your entry, and shows them in your search results. In the case of SDS Search Center search results, the Synonyms column (requires two-line display) indicates the SDS synonym matching your entry where appropriate.
To view an SDS's synonyms:
Starting at the SDS Home page (How do I get there?), do the following:
● Under Additional Details, click Synonyms.
The Synonyms page opens, showing the SDS's current synonyms. Synonyms shown in blue were added by a Corporate user, and function at all sites. If you are a local site user, synonyms shown in black were added at your site and function at your site only.
